To spend 4 years researching and writing, day after day in libraries, archives, home alone and staring at screens, and then begin a book tour by doing 70 interviews in 4 days means coming out of a cave and learning all over again that the world exists. Almost all the press has been incredibly informed and enthusiastic, but of course what sticks in the mind is a young radio interviewer from the South who, after I explained the birth of the Moon as a eons-old collision between the Earth and a body the size of Mars which flung debris that coalesced into our silvery light, she paused and said, “But I thought God created the Moon!”

Started reading your book - excellent, bringing back the memories, I was 12 that summer.
Will try and make your appearance this Friday in College Park at 6 pm. Do you know if it is ok if I bring my book in for you to sign?
Thanks!
This book is definitely on my must read list. I heard you on Coast to Coast AM radio tonight. Great thoughts on Armstrong. I think even other astronauts have to acknowledge that he is a special breed of person, born to be an astronaut and face the challenges that have been placed in front of him throughout his life. Cool heads and an ability to remain calm under unbelievable pressure helps to make someone like Armstrong and the other astronauts who they are. As you had said on the program and I completely agree.
Thanks for your interest in the space program, and especially sharing your enthusiasm of what it means to have these brave and unselfish men represent us and our country. To give us a means to travel in space vicariously through them. I value your appreciation and respect for what our space program has brought us in the past and will bring us in the future. I look forward to reading your book and remembering some of my own memories of those historic and proud days. Take care.
I bought “Rocket Men” on Audible.com and just got done listening to it. Thank you so much for all the work! It was great! I laughed and cried because the book drew me into such a wonderful story. Thank you again!
No matter how many great reviews I get, nothing compares to hearing directly from readers on how much they enjoyed my work. Letters like yours make my day … thanks Paul …
I love surfing your weblog. I always find it insightful.
